The Origin of the Cable’s Name:
All NxLT products are related to the elements. We already have WATER, AIR, and FLAME. For the next NxLT product, the only remaining element to use as a name was the fourth one: Earth. EARTH – such a down-to-earth name, but on the other hand, it can evoke something friendly, stable, predictable, the foundation of everything, including an audio system. Słowik (Nightingale) – that’s my nickname, hence the company’s logo as well. However, I felt such associations did not fit the character of the sound of this new cable, so I named it ETHER. ETHER is the path to truth. The truth about how the music is recorded. The truth about our system.
Test Summary:
Next Level Tech ETHER is a multifunctional cable; both a research tool and a source of pleasure. „Sonically balanced yet intriguing” – this is its motto. This phrase may sound quite innocent but carries a significant emotional and stylistic charge. The balance turns out to be of such a kind that it stirs emotions not usually associated with this type of sound. You have to hear it for yourself; my words won’t fully capture it. There is an essence in this cable that you don’t forget. While it might happen that the initial moments may disappoint by being too blunt, once it settles (usually after a few hours), you start hearing things that were previously unheard – especially the extraordinary connection between the mids and highs. But it’s not just that; it’s also the sum of the information and the way it’s presented. Yes, there is something special in this interconnect, some unique tone.
Although the price may not suggest it, I dare to claim that NxLT Next Level Tech Ether is one of the more demanding interconnects on the market, which somewhat defines it as an excellent partner for strictly high-end electronics, where at least in theory, there should be no errors or missteps. The decision to purchase depends solely on the buyer’s individual sound and aesthetic preferences. Therefore, I am not particularly surprised by reports of these cables appearing in systems where one might expect significantly more expensive, non-domestic wiring. In the end, the example above proves that „money doesn’t make the sound,” and thus even with such affordable cables, one can compete for high-end accolades. That is, if we consider high-end to be the faithful reproduction of reality, and not its more or less colored, and therefore distorted, interpretation.
